About Carolle
My inspiration comes from plants and natural forms. I have always been interested in finding ways to move from realism to abstraction, either by enlargement - taking a tiny detail and magnifying it, or by fragmentation - taking a section from a real image and disassociating it from its context. Within these abstract and semi-abstract pieces,I focus on form and colour which is of paramount importance to me, and is always derived from the natural world.
Recently I have been exploring creating related images on groups of canvasses based on imagery from greenhouse plants. Sometimes the images overlap several canvasses, in other groups they are related in colour and form, but not connected together.
I use drawing and photography as a basis from which to develop and explore my ideas through painting, batik, or screenprint, sometimes with a mixed media element such as collage, fabric and stitch.
This work will be on exhibition at Townfoot studio during the first three weekends in June this year during the Network Artists Open Studio event.
